This Privacy Notice explains how Ahmed Elsayed Ghoname ("we", "us", "our"), trading as RescueEM, collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use RescueEM (the "Service"). We are the data controller for personal data processed about you.
Information we collect
- Account data: name, email address, hashed password or OAuth identifier.
- Profile and learning data: study progress, MCQ attempts, case scenario results, badges.
- Support data: messages you send to us.
- Usage and device data: log data, IP address, browser, device identifiers, pages visited, errors.
- Cookies: essential cookies required to keep you signed in and to operate the Service.
Payment card details are collected and processed directly by our payment provider, Paddle. We do not store full card numbers on our systems.
No patient information. RescueEM is an educational study tool and is not designed to receive or store any patient-identifiable information (PHI/PII). You must not upload, paste, or otherwise submit any real-patient information to the Service.
How we use your information
- To create and operate your account and deliver the Service (legal basis: contract).
- To provide customer support and respond to inquiries (contract / legitimate interests).
- To secure the Service, prevent fraud, and debug issues (legitimate interests).
- To improve content and features based on aggregated usage (legitimate interests).
- To send service-related notifications (contract / legitimate interests).
- To comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations (legal obligation).
Sharing your information
We share personal data only with:
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, who processes payments, manages subscriptions, handles tax compliance, and issues invoices. See Paddle's Privacy Policy.
- Infrastructure and service providers who host the Service, store data, send transactional email, and provide analytics on our behalf under contract.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where required.
- Authorities where required by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
Data retention
We keep account data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations. Learning progress is retained while your account exists. When data is no longer needed it is deleted or anonymised.
International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your own. Where this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls, and audit logging — to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Cookies
We use essential cookies needed to keep you signed in and to operate the Service. We may also use limited analytics cookies to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Children
The Service is intended for medical professionals and trainees. It is not directed at children under 16.
Changes to this notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
